When Faithful Was Martyred

Chapter Reading: 2 Timothy 3 | Verse of the Day: 2 Timothy 3:12

Faithfulness isn’t always rewarded with applause. Sometimes it ends in rejection. Or loneliness. Or in Bunyan’s case—prison.

And for Faithful, it ended in martyrdom.

“Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” — 2 Timothy 3:12

In The Pilgrim’s Progress, Christian’s companion Faithful is executed in Vanity Fair for speaking truth. The crowd mocks. The judges lie. And the world rejoices.

But heaven doesn’t forget.

2 Timothy 3 warns us: the cost of following Christ isn’t optional—it’s inevitable. But so is the reward.

Faithful’s death isn’t a defeat—it’s a declaration. That no matter what the world takes from you, it can’t take your citizenship in the Celestial City.
