A Good Name Is Better Than a Big Name

Chapter: Proverbs 28 | Verse: Proverbs 22:1

We chase followers, fame, and features. But Solomon says the best reputation isn’t built on brand—it’s built on integrity. Your name will outlast your platform.

“A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, Favor is better than silver and gold.” — Proverbs 22:1, LSB

Proverbs 28 warns of wicked rulers, dishonest gain, and corrupted justice. But Proverbs 22:1 gives us a north star: choose a good name over a big one.

In a culture where image is everything, God still prioritizes character. He sees what’s done in secret. He blesses those who walk uprightly—even if they’re never trending.

You may never be known by the masses. But if heaven smiles on your name, you’re already wealthy.

Are you more concerned about how you’re perceived—or who you’re becoming?

  • Choose character today over convenience.
  • Ask someone close to you: “What’s my reputation like?”
  • Pray that your name would reflect Christ more than achievement.

We’re not building a brand. We’re building lives rooted in truth. On Walking with God, you’ll be reminded that legacy matters more than likes. Walk worthy.

Closing Prayer

God, give me a name that pleases You. May I be known for faithfulness—not flash.
