Putting Shoe Leather on the Gospel: The Theology Behind Our Mission Statement

Mission Statement:

We put shoe leather on the Gospel by helping believers know Christ deeply, grow in biblical truth, and go into the world equipped to live for His glory. Through teaching with clarity, conviction, and compassion, we create podcasts, devotionals, and discipleship courses that form a Christ-centered worldview and empower everyday faithfulness.

Our mission flows from a deep conviction: the Gospel is not just something we believe, it’s something we walk. This is the heartbeat of discipleship. Jesus doesn’t just call us to admire Him from a distance; He says, “Follow Me” Matthew 4:19. Our mission at Shoe Leather Gospel is to help believers follow Jesus with both their minds and their lives.

1. “We put shoe leather on the Gospel…”

This phrase expresses our core metaphor: we exist to make the Gospel walkable—to translate theology into transformed living. The Gospel is not abstract. It is incarnational, actionable, and personal. Paul says in Philippians 1:27, “Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ…”

To put shoe leather on the Gospel means:

  • Living out sound doctrine in everyday contexts Titus 2:10
  • Walking as Jesus walked 1 John 2:6
  • Doing the Word, not just hearing it James 1:22

It’s a call to applied theology: truth with traction.

2. “…by helping believers know Christ deeply”

Knowing Christ is the beginning of all discipleship. As Paul writes, “That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection…” Philippians 3:10. This knowing is not casual or informational—it’s covenantal, relational, and transformative.

We help believers:

  • Embrace Christ as Lord and Savior Romans 10:9
  • Abide in Him daily John 15:4–5
  • Pursue intimacy through the Word and prayer Psalm 27:4

This is the foundation for faithful walking.

3. “…grow in biblical truth”

Spiritual growth is impossible apart from biblical truth. Jesus prayed, “Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth” John 17:17. Our mission includes training believers to:

  • Understand Scripture with clarity and reverence Nehemiah 8:8
  • Develop doctrinal discernment Hebrews 5:14
  • Be conformed to the image of Christ through the renewing of their minds Romams 12:2

Teaching with clarity, conviction, and compassion ensures truth is not just correct, but compelling.

4. “…and go into the world equipped to live for His glory.”

The Gospel compels action. We don’t grow for our own sake; we grow to go. Jesus said, “As the Father has sent Me, I also send you” John 20:21.

Living for Christ’s glory means:

  • Being salt and light in a dark culture Matthew 5:13–16
  • Serving in the church and witness in the world 1 Peter 4:10
  • Living with hope, integrity, and eternal purpose 2 Corinthians 5:9–10

Equipping is more than informing—it’s empowering believers to step into their calling.

5. “…through podcasts, devotionals, and discipleship courses…”

We intentionally deliver our teaching across multiple formats so that:

  • Listeners can learn on the go
  • Readers can reflect and grow daily
  • Learners can go deeper in structured studies

Every platform serves the same goal: discipleship through the Word.

How the Mission Fulfills Our Vision

Our vision is to help believers walk faithfully, think biblically, and live for Christ’s glory. Our mission shows how we accomplish that:

  • Walk faithfully → by applying truth through shoe-leather discipleship

The mission turns the vision into movement.

Conclusion: A Mission That Moves

The mission of Shoe Leather Gospel isn’t just to teach. It’s to train, transform, and send. We exist to disciple believers who follow Jesus with their feet, not just their feelings—who walk it out in grace, grit, and Gospel power.

Because the Gospel is not just a message to be heard. It’s a life to be lived.
